Grenada County offers a wealth of resources to its 21,706 residents and 2 million visitors annually. The county is home to Grenada Lake, the largest body of water in the state, with nearly 36,000 acres of water and 148 miles of shoreline in the summer. The Lake is part of the 90,000-acre Grenada Lake Project and was formed by the construction of Grenada Dam. The Dam was completed in 1954, and it was built to provide flood control in the Yazoo River Basin. Operated, maintained, and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the project provides public recreation, conservation of fish and wildlife, and stewardship of public forests, in addition to its primary function of flood control. Coupled with nearby Hugh White State Park, the lake area provides ample opportunities for fishing, hunting, camping, boating, jet-skiing, swimming, and hiking. Golfers can test their skills at the nationally-ranked Dogwoods Golf Course, carved out of the forest.

Those who choose to live in Grenada County benefit from The University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada, part of the state’s largest healthcare system. Residents have access to two excellent school systems: The Grenada School District, home to Newsweek Magazine’s #1 rural elementary school in America, and Kirk Academy, a K-3 through 12th grade private school that offers a Christian-based, college preparatory education. Post-secondary education may be sought at Holmes Community College – Grenada Center, home of the state-of-the art Workforce Training Complex and University of Mississippi – Grenada. The largest industrial park on I-55 in Mississippi is also located in Grenada County, covering approximately 1200 acres.
